FBI Blogs… Time Management and Census Work

In Uncategorized on February 4, 2010 at 10:23 pm

For the next few months I have been hired on as the Big Islands East Hawaii Field Operations Supervisor for the 2010 Census.

It will be difficult for me to keep up with things while I’m working and the person that is going to automate this site has not had an opportunity to do so.

In the meantime… the feeds will still get posted… However, the pictures up top will be updated on a new basis, which will be based upon when I have time and those that have posted pictures that I think are worthy of staying on top of the site for a longer period of time.

In Big Island on the Cheap on January 12, 2010 at 11:00 pm

Most folks know that I don’t want this site to be commercialized and after evaluating the Big Island on the Cheap site for a while now… I think that this would fit in well with the FBI Blogs as it gives the readers their own choice as to whether they want to view the discounts or things being blogged about over there.

Welcome to the FBI Blogs Big Island on the Cheap.

Re-Introducing “News Blotter” by @lkinoshita to the FBI Blogs

In Newsblotter on January 10, 2010 at 12:28 am

Laura Kinoshita - "News Blotter"

I’ve been trying to get West Hawaii resident Laura Kinoshita onto the FBI Blogs for the last six months.

I was stoked when I received a tweet from her announcing that she had resolved the feed problems that we were having syncing the FBI Blogs with her site.

She does a lot of different things with her site… One of them is monitoring local websites.

So those that are fearful of being watched… be careful of her… just teasing Laura… I know the profession.

Sorry About the Delay

In Uncategorized on January 3, 2010 at 8:38 pm

As most of you know… I have been away and I run this site manually right now.

I am working with Larry Czerwonka to get it automated so that when I take vacations I won’t have to do things with the site.

Hopefully, once it’s automated, I won’t have to do anything but add new bloggers as I feel fit to do so.

Hope you all had a great new years.

Mahalo for being part of the FBI Blogs… and things will once again be rolling again tomorrow.

FBI Bloggers: Big Island on the Cheap

In Big Island on the Cheap on January 1, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Kris Bordessa and Leslie Lang are long-time freelance writers who own and operate Big Island On The Cheap. At BigIslandOnTheCheap.com every weekday, they gather up and post current Big Island discounts, deals, and events so you can enjoy life, culture and fun in Hawai‘i — for less. Cheap is the new chic.

Appealing to both residents and visitors, Big Island On The Cheap is part of a nationwide network of hyperlocal Cities On The Cheap, which has been featured in Woman’s Day, MSN.com’s Money blog, Frommer’s, SFGate.com, and Worldhum.

Kris Bordessa lives in Honoka‘a and also writes for national magazines, websites, and business clients. She is also the author of several books and the mother of two teens. The books were easier.

Hilo girl Leslie Lang is a business writer, and also writes books and magazine articles. She lives in the country and keeps chickens.

Hi there! I live and work on the Kohala Coast writing for small and mid-sized businesses in North and West Hawaii.

I moved to Hawaii from Marina del Rey in 2001 to become the Public Information and Outreach officer at W. M. Keck Observatory. Before that, I spent seven years working at large public relations agencies in Southern California.

In 2007 I started my own professional writing and marketing business. My work has helped Hafner Creative Communications, Hawaii Island Ulumau, Kamehameha Schools, Kupa`a Business Planners, Nonie Toledo & Associates and several astronomy-themed publications and Web sites.

I started NewsBlotter in 2009 to inform, interest and inspire those who live and work in West Hawaii. I like to write about up-and-coming new businesses, especially those involved in research and development.

When I’m not working I am with my best friend Kyle and our amazing son. I enjoy reading, cooking, playing golf, watching tennis and am a lifelong Angel’s fan.

Live ‘Ukulele

Brad Bordessa picked up an ‘ukulele for the first time in 2005 at the
age of twelve when he and his family moved to the Big Island from
California. The instrument seemed like an opportunity waiting to
happen – it was. Over the years, Brad expanded his knowledge of the
‘ukulele by attending workshops, taking lessons, and jamming with
friends. An idea for an ‘ukulele website spawned Live ‘Ukulele.com.
Live ‘Ukulele has grown over its 3 year lifespan into one of the web’s
foremost ‘ukulele sites, reaching a million hits in December, 2009.
Brad continues to grow the website – and his music – from his current
residence in Honoka’a, Hawai’i.
