FBI Bloggers: Big Island on the Cheap
In Big Island on the Cheap on January 1, 2010 at 6:55 pmKris Bordessa and Leslie Lang are long-time freelance writers who own and operate Big Island On The Cheap. At BigIslandOnTheCheap.com every weekday, they gather up and post current Big Island discounts, deals, and events so you can enjoy life, culture and fun in Hawai‘i — for less. Cheap is the new chic.
Appealing to both residents and visitors, Big Island On The Cheap is part of a nationwide network of hyperlocal Cities On The Cheap, which has been featured in Woman’s Day, MSN.com’s Money blog, Frommer’s, SFGate.com, and Worldhum.
Kris Bordessa lives in Honoka‘a and also writes for national magazines, websites, and business clients. She is also the author of several books and the mother of two teens. The books were easier.
Hilo girl Leslie Lang is a business writer, and also writes books and magazine articles. She lives in the country and keeps chickens.

Hi there! I live and work on the Kohala Coast writing for small and mid-sized businesses in North and West Hawaii.
I moved to Hawaii from Marina del Rey in 2001 to become the Public Information and Outreach officer at W. M. Keck Observatory. Before that, I spent seven years working at large public relations agencies in Southern California.
In 2007 I started my own professional writing and marketing business. My work has helped Hafner Creative Communications, Hawaii Island Ulumau, Kamehameha Schools, Kupa`a Business Planners, Nonie Toledo & Associates and several astronomy-themed publications and Web sites.
I started NewsBlotter in 2009 to inform, interest and inspire those who live and work in West Hawaii. I like to write about up-and-coming new businesses, especially those involved in research and development.
When I’m not working I am with my best friend Kyle and our amazing son. I enjoy reading, cooking, playing golf, watching tennis and am a lifelong Angel’s fan.

In Live 'Ukulele on January 1, 2010 at 10:41 amBrad Bordessa picked up an ‘ukulele for the first time in 2005 at the
age of twelve when he and his family moved to the Big Island from
California. The instrument seemed like an opportunity waiting to
happen – it was. Over the years, Brad expanded his knowledge of the
‘ukulele by attending workshops, taking lessons, and jamming with
friends. An idea for an ‘ukulele website spawned Live ‘Ukulele.com.
Live ‘Ukulele has grown over its 3 year lifespan into one of the web’s
foremost ‘ukulele sites, reaching a million hits in December, 2009.
Brad continues to grow the website – and his music – from his current
residence in Honoka’a, Hawai’i.
